The Autumnal Equinox marks the beginning of Autumn in the Northern hemisphere. This is when Autumn sets in after Lughnasa and before Samhain.
During the Equinox the hours of day and night are said to be closer to equal than other days. The fall equinox ushers in the arrival of Libra, a famously balanced (and social butterfly) sign representing an era of compromise and reflection, to correspond with a time of equal darkness and light. For this reason, it is a great time to consider the roles we have in life and examine how we can bring more balance to our daily lives. This is a great time to practice mindfulness activities and remain present.
For this celebration you could add some Harvest related items to your sacred space or altar. Some ideas for these could be autumnal vegetation like pinecones, acorns etc, some harvest scents like cinnamon, or crystals of abundance like Aventurine or Carnelian. We’ve linked some ideas below for you to browse.
This year the Autumn Equinox will be at 02:03 on Friday, 23 September.
We’re also doing a special giveaway for this equinox, winners announced on Saturday 24th!
