Smudge Stick – White Sage and Sweetgrass

White sage is also called Indian incense. It is made from the silver-white leaves of the Salvia Apiana plant and grows on the coast of California. It is a sacred herb used by shamans of indigenous peoples in North America for centuries for purification ceremonies. Hereby not only the living environment but also the mind with all her thoughts is cleaned. White Sage has a penetrating spicy smell. Scientific research has shown that 94% of the bacteria in the room have been broken down after burning this herb.

Sweetgrass is used in smudges, healing or talking circles because it has a healing effect – its smoke is believed to purify thoughts, the environment and to eliminate bad or negative thoughts

To use: Light smudge stick or loose leaves, wait a moment, then blow out flames. Fan embers lightly to keep smoldering (may need to be re-lit). Use the smoke to “wash” persons, property, or spaces. Use a shell or pottery to catch ashes.
