Description

Egyptian Black Scarab

In Ancient Egypt, scarabs were symbols of rebirth, resurrection, transformation, and growth. People wore scarab amulets for good luck and protection, and the bodies of the dead were adorned with scarabs to ensure that they could travel safely to the afterlife and move on to the next world.

The scarab was closely connected with the sun god Khepri, who brought the sunrise over the horizon each day. The Ancient Egyptians saw a connection between the scarab beetle rolling dung balls and Khepri rolling the sun across the sky.
