Pentacle Cast Iron Cauldron
This black cast iron cauldron can be used for ritual and decorative purposes, or used to burn incense.
The cauldron was once used by many kinds of folk for magical and divination purposes, as well as for the mixing of tinctures and potions. While still used in rituals today, it is more of a representation than a tool itself. This cauldron, however, retains much of its original use.
Most people don’t know that the symbol you see here—the star enclosed in a circle—is called a pentacle, not a pentagram. (A pentagram, believe it or not, is an ordinary five-pointed star with no circle!) The pentacle is a talisman of many purposes. In modern times, it is most often associated with Neo-Pagan religions, especially Wicca. In these traditions, the five points often represent the five elements of air, fire, water, earth, and spirit. But this symbol has already been in use for thousands of years. In ancient times, it was featured in tombs and seals of Egypt and Mesopotamia and coins of Greece. For example, the Ancient Greeks may have used it as a symbol to ward off evil.
How To Use:
Incense Cones — Remove the lid, and place a cone inside the burner. Light the narrow tip of the cone until it flames. Once the tip is glowing, carefully blow out the flames. Smoke should follow. Put the lid back on. Keep the air as still as possible for the best results.
Incense Sticks — Remove the lid, and fill the bowl with ash or sand. Stand an incense stick upright, and let go to make sure it balances on its own. Light the tip of the incense stick. Let it flame for a second, then gently blow it out. Smoke should follow. Keep the air as still as possible for best results.
Charcoal & Resin — Remove the lid. Using tongs, light a charcoal disk until it gently embers, and place it inside the burner. Carefully put a small amount of resin on top of the disk. Smoke should follow. Put the lid back on. Keep the air as still as possible for the best results.
