Ganesha (also Ganesa or Ganapati) is one of the most important gods in Hinduism. He is the Lord of Good Fortune who provides prosperity, fortune, and success. He is the Lord of Beginnings and the Remover of Obstacles of both material and spiritual kinds. Interestingly, he also places obstacles in the path of those who need to be checked. Ganesha is the patron of writers, travelers, students, and commerce, and he removes obstacles blocking new projects. This deity is fond of sweets, to the slight detriment of his figure.
These days, wind chimes are mostly for decoration, but they actually come from a superstitious past. Around 1100 BC, chimes were hung from the eaves in Chinese temples and pagodas to ward off evil spirits and protect against natural disasters like typhoons and tsunamis. A more practical use in Indonesia was to hang chimes in fields to scare birds away from the crops. No matter where you put them, the soothing tones create a meditative atmosphere, inviting balance, harmony, and serenity into every space. Wind chimes are sure to be music to everyone’s ears.
